An Eloquent Letter
It has been suggested to me that I make this into a news article. So here goes. Not everyone will agree with this totally but I think it is worth a read.
The following
was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning
I am a Jew, and
every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a
little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees Christmas
trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what
they are: Christmas trees.
It doesn't bother
me a bit when people say, "Merry Christmas" to me. I don't think they are
slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it.
It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of
year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a
key intersection near my beach house in Malibu . If people want a crche, it's just as fine with me as is
the Menorah a few hundred

the allure of abandoned places - selection II
Abandoned places are surely becoming a widespread subject in photography. You realize it even only with a web research: the result is in fact a huge number of links to galleries about that.
But also DA offers a number of example of this kind of photography, of photographers that silently go inside these crumbling buildings, fascinated by the story they still can tell, realizing that it's not only a matter of broken windows and walls, but also of objects, perspective and colours.

Okay.., honesty first

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 4, 2009, 4:57 AM

Let's be honest...

Hey people...

Long time no see!

Okay..., it seems that keeping up with DA costs me way 2 much time. My boy is growing steadily. I changed Jobs in the mean time and all is well here. I am just so busy with everything that DA has become a lesser priority for me. So I thought a lot about it and wondered if I should leave DA. I decided not to. I enjoy DA and you guys way to much to leave it.

But somehow I have to keep things manageble for myself. That's the reason I decided that I will not keep the Photo4People club alive, will not be a member of other clubs, will not update journals and will not react on a regular basis on messages (I could promiss that I will but that would just be fooling you guys and myself so I try to be honest).

I will sometimes logg in and react again, I will upload some photo's but not as much as in the first half year of my presence here. I hope you guys will have patience and thanks for your support so far. Hope to see you guys soon and I'll do my best to check in once in a while.

Cheers peepz

Hi :)
I have just created a group to support dA artists. I really like your gallery and I would love to have something yours in the group gallery!
Are you interested in becoming a member of #ArtSupporters? :)

I tried sending this to you in a message, but I'm kind of new to this site. Thank you SO much for taking/posting your picture "Run Through the Fence". I wrote a note on how it changed me and I posted it on facebook; it'd be a pleasure to me if you'd read it:

For a time now, I'd say about a month or so, I've been struggling a lot with anger. Not bitterness, anger. My past two mornings have been without anger (and really great!) because of spending time to pray a lot more than I usually would, Scripture reading, and declaring things. I missed out on that this morning and no doubt will still do it sometime today, but back to before I caught this revalation.
I logged onto facebook, put on some (angry :P) music, and opened a tab for deviantart, a website where people post what they've photographed, graphically designed or even wrote. I typed in "fence" thinking I'd see a few creative urban photographs. As I was scrolling down, one in black and white caught my eye. I clicked on it and the screen changed, but there was only the website logo instead. I clicked on that, and when I did it loaded and went full-sized. What I saw wasn't what I was looking for, but so so much more:
A picture of a row of black monkeybar-like poles about 3 feet tall, and a little girl running under them. The title of the picture was "Run Through the Fence". Then it hit me that, like the Bible says, it's so much easier to get through our problems when we have the heart of a child and are willing and wanting to take God's hand and have Him direct our path fully, than for us to try to jump over them. Even if we can get over one, three, or even five, we'll eventually run out of energy and have to rest, trapped between a cycle of 'black poles'. "Let us run with endurance the race that our Lord God has set before us" says the Bible. No one can jump hurdles forever, but if we're willing to run, our Coach and best Friend will be there with us every step of the way and put others to help us through it. Humbling ourselves and making ourselves 'underdogs' to let God take control will get us through. And when we're on His side, we're champions.

Another detail: I wanted to write a note this morning but had no clue what to write about

So thank you very, very much and your photography is AMAZING!!!! Don't be surprised if you see the comments rolling in,

Wow.... I decided to log in to DA for the first time in about half a year and I read your message on my profile about "Run through the fence". I'm sorry my reaction took so long. I don;t use this site much anymore... I sometimes upload some new stuff but I seldoim do so. I am honoured by your kind words and I am glad the photo gave you such support and even changed your life for this moment. Thanks for your feedbakc as it made my heart jump up in joy and gave me some food for thought in that I maybe might log in more often and upload more. Thanks again and I hope all is well.
